Contemporary cosmology in the Catholic worldview sees the emergence of the universe as God’s creative work calling creation into being. Human beings, born of the universe, are connected to the story of the universe and the emergence of the stars. That humans are created in the image of God, connects human life to the Judeo-Christian tradition too.
In the Second Testament, Jesus Christ is portrayed as the true icon of God and God’s divine presence in the world. This is seen especially in the story of the transfiguration as an encounter of transformation. In the context of Catholic education, how does the story of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus speak to our contemporary times and a modern people? Are there ways that the shimmering light, beauty and glory revealed by Jesus can form and inform us to transform the world?
Identity and Outreach Directorate is partnering with Gen Bryant, singer-songwriter of contemporary and Christian music, to offer an engaging day of formation experiences for teaching and non-teaching staff in Catholic schools across the Diocese of Cairns.
With the theme ‘A Vision to Transform,’ the day will invite reflection on the transformative element that CEDC’s 2026-2028 Strategic Directions:
“To offer every student in every school a world class education enriched by their lived encounter with the Catholic faith. Christ-centered, student focused, future ready.”
invites staff enter into, in our collective mission as community builders through a faith education.
