Applications for the next intake (2024-25) will be invited from Full-time employees of Cairns Catholic Education in Term 4 2023. Staff who are seeking Accreditation to Teach Religion in a Catholic School are invited to express their interest in the ACU GCRE by completing the Expression of Interest Forms (find form under “VIEW COURSE DETAILS”).
Successful applicants will have 75% of Course fees sponsored by CES with the applicant responsible for the remaining 25% course cost and ACU student fees. Each unit will require budget support via TRS from the participant’s school for 2 days in both Terms 1 and 3 for them to attend each intensive.
The Course Structure includes 1-3 introductory Zooms on a Monday or Tuesday from 5-6pm (depending on the lecturer for each Unit) before the Intensives which occur on the following dates:
Semester 2 2024: Introducing Church Life: Thursday-Saturday 15-17 August 2024 (please note that all 3 days are compulsory to attend face-to face in Cairns).
2025 Units: Introducing Theology – Recontextualising Tradition and The Hermeneutic Communicative Model of Religious Education.
There are 2-3 post-intensive Zooms for each unit on a Monday or Tuesday from 5-6pm (depending on the lecturer for each Unit). Throughout the GCRE students will be offered academic support by members of I&O team who will walk and work with them throughout the 2 year course.
