The role of Equity Contact Officer is designed to provide assistance to staff who may be faced with workplace issues which are inappropriate in nature or may constitute misconduct, including bullying, discrimination, harassment and behaviour which breaches the Code of Conduct.
The Equity Contact Officer is responsible for providing information to staff who believe they are experiencing unfair treatment, and for supporting management in the prevention and elimination of unacceptable behaviour in the workplace.
Equity Contact Officers are trained to;
- provide accurate and objective information which assists employees in making constructive decisions addressing issues of unfair treatment;
- strengthen employees understanding of behavioural expectations in the workplace; and
- to reinforce the Diocese of Cairns’ commitment to building a positive workplace culture where issues of inappropriate behaviour and/or misconduct will not be tolerated.
