Andrew Oberthur

Andrew has been teaching for over 30 years including the last 18 as principal across two schools in SEQ. He is married to Lisa and they have two teenage children.
Andrew is the author of the book “Are You Ready for Primary School This Year?” – a book about building a culture of Trust, Collaboration and Enquiry between parents and teachers. It is about the importance of parents and teachers being on the same page with all the elements of school life (except the curriculum).

Since publishing his book Andrew has been a regular on ABC radio Brisbane, written blogs for a variety of forums, done a couple of podcasts and a webinar and can be seen on ParentTV.

Andrew enjoys working with staff and parents. He uses real life scenarios to make the learning realistic and practical. Andrew often draws on the experience and wisdom of the group to guide the learning. His presentations are engaging, with participants taking away their existing skills, refined for improved applications. Andrew draws on the expertise of others, while using his own experience which is current in today’s context.
